Before the War, Bailey was a politician serving in the George House of Representatives and Senate, as well as the U.S. Senate (1851-1855). After failing to win re-election to the U.S. Senate, he was again elected to the Georgia Senate and was a member of the Georgia Secession Convention. If your ma don't want it, keep it as we will need in somem time and we will never get it as cheap again!" and the other side reads, "There was a skirmish fight taken place a little below here yesterday and Sunday also today. We had one man wounded this morning. Have not heard the particulars of today's fight but the others are certain we also taken a small boat and one common that was great. Success on our side.
