2441   imageIreland, Exquisite Exhibition Exposition of Provisional Overprint Issues, 1922-25, an exceptional work, comprehensively presenting the history and varieties of the 1922-25 "Rialtas"- and "Saorstát"-overprinted stamps of Great Britain used in the first years of the Republic of Ireland, running from pre-production items to actual postal uses; begins with overprint proofs and trial printings, followed by full sets of all issued stamps (including all the Seahorses, plus all four inverted overprints (Dollard and first Thom)) with annotations as to issue quantities and varieties; control number singles, strips and blocks; offsets, die and color varieties, Harrison coils with control tabs and end tabs plus paste-up pairs, 1925 Castle Overprints in margin blocks of four (each very nicely centered throughout), line shifts, split overprints, overprinted Revenues, on-cover uses including a Thom 2d pair on Feb. 17, 1922 First Day Cover, several forgeries, and more besides; a simply spectacular offering that must be seen in its entirety to truly appreciate, Very Fine, fully imaged online.
