LotNo. Symbol CatNo. Lot Description
2001   imageBlockbuster Old-Time Collection, 1851-1960s, carefully mounted into two Scott albums of neatly arranged home-made quadrille pages. Accumulated over many decades, this collector loved the old-time style of collecting beautiful stamps of various shades, positions, plate numbers and varieties. These old-time collectors seldom just purchased an album, because they found a structured format to be limiting in the scope they wished to collect. This philosophy was thoroughly embraced by this collector. Most stamps were purchased from auction houses such as: Siegel; H.R. Harmer; Kelleher and others. Loaded with better material and with an occasional certificate when needed. Classic issues are mostly unused, with occasional regummed, while the later issues are generally original gum with occasional never hinged. Notable items include: 24, 30, 30A, 37, 68, 69, 70a, 71, 75, 76 with o.g. 2035   imageCompelling Mostly Mint Collection with a Ton of Face, 1830-2010, In seven binders, mostly used until about 1930, then almost all mint and virtually complete adding up to a huge amount in postage with additional plate blocks, booklets and miniature sheets. But it's not just about the face, as there are not only many fine classics here, but the collector has gone out of their way to include many other interesting items, such as numerous covers, especially from the 19th century with eight stampless dating back to 1830 and patriotic covers from the Civil War, fractional currency, even postage currency, precancels, tagged varieties, and coil pairs. Better used as mounted include #10-10, 17, 35, 68-70, 73, 75-78, 112-17, 119, 134, 145-52, 156-63, 165-66, 182-90, 215-17, 219-29, 230-40, 246-60, 264-76, 291, 294-99, 300-11, 331-42, 658-79, E1-7, K1-2, O2-4, 016-24, O27-30, O35-42, O47-56, O57, O62, 072-82, O88-93, and mint 214, 290, C1, C18. In a separate binder, there's more B-O-B with cut squares & entires, abundant revenues with strong first, second and third issues including Hunting Permit, and a small collection of revenues from the British Commonwealth. And let's not forget the Possessions; many fine sets, like mint Canal Zone 120-35 & C15-20, even errors, like #22 (missing "Z' in "Zone") in a mint block of four. Have a look at the many scans viewable online. Keep in mind that condition will vary, but on the whole Fine to Very Fine. Shipping charges apply - weight 41 lbs. 2040   imageDynamite Mostly Mint Collection, 1851-2020, In seven Minuteman albums with all stamps in black mounts, mostly used until the 1930s, and looks to be all mint from then on. We normally don't see a collection of this caliber in a Minuteman album, but with 3 of the 4 Zepps present including a mint White Plains sheet, this is a collection to be taken seriously. Better used include as mounted #9, 35-36, 68-71, 73, 76-78, 96-97, 112-17, 119, 134-36, 145-55, 156-63, 165-66, 182-90, 208, 217, 219-29, 230-40, 264-76A, 285-90, 294-99, 300-11, 333-42, 397-404, 658-79, C1-6, C13-14, E1-7, etc. And as good as the classics are, I'm not even sure if the bulk of the value is there, as I simply could not find an empty spot in the modern era. It's all mint with astronomical face including all the mini-sheets as well as the numerous perf varieties of the definitive series. Higher value items too, like the recalled Legends of the West sheet, imperforate Bugs Bunny, and virtually complete Ducks from 1969-2018 including souvenir sheets & booklets. Condition varies early on, but generally Fine to Very Fine. Shipping charges apply - weight 30.6 lbs. (PDF for this Lot) (Video for this lot) (Video2 for this lot) (Video3 for this lot) (Image)
