465 og 148 image1870, 6¢ carmine, N.B.N.C. printing (Scott 148), with two conflicting certificates. After carefully examining the stamp, we determine that P.S.E. is correct and the P.F. certificate is incorrect, o.g., previously hinged, Very Fine to Extremely Fine centering, with 1984 P.F. certificate as 137 and 2022 P.S.E. certificate as 148.

466 Z 150 image1870, 10¢ brown, canceled Hakodate [misspelled "Hakodadi"], Japan (Scott 150) horizontal pair tied on piece by blue circle-of-wedges cancels alongside a matching "HAKODADI, JAPAN SEP 4" c.d.s.; the pair is also tied by a small black cork cancel with a nearly complete Oct 1 Yokohama c.d.s. attl; minor perf flaws, Fine and rare.


Hakodate had a very small American population and limited mail service prior to all U.S. post offices in Japan being closed at the end of 1874.
