1781   imageJapan, the Dai Nippon Picture Post Card Collection, comprising many thousands of cards, the overwhelming majority focusing on Japan but with a smattering of China, Korea, and Taiwan mixed in as well; partially organized by locale, partially by subject, largely jumbled and a joy to rummage through; note military-related items (particularly Russo-Japanese War); official post cards commemorating the war with Russia, the visit of the Great White Fleet, entry into the UPU, etc.; a strong offering of pre- and post-Great Kanto Earthquake views; Missionaries and Westerners in Japan, New Year's cards, Imperial images, an interesting selection of cards depicting the Ainu, and many more themes besides; a definite highlight are the 29 two- or three-panel panorama cards, two of which depict old Shanghai, two of Seoul; note real photos, tinted photos (most black-and-white), post-war full-color images, sets (not necessarily complete) in their original envelopes, etc.; mixed used and unused, the used offering a variety of frankings and postmarks, including commemorative; the occasional bent or beaten up card, but overall sound, Fine to Very Fine, a stellar lot sure to bring hours of surprise and delight. 1783   imageJapan, Very Nice Nippon Mint Collection, 1875-1989, All mint collection in black mounts on White Ace pages and housed in four binders. Only a few stamps before 1899, namely #40, 44 (syllabic 19), 53, 85-86, but nearly complete from 1923 on with a multitude of better items including the scarcer souvenir sheets. Here they are by catalogue number… 110, 163-66, 167-70, 179-87, 190-93, 198-201, 212-13, 249, 276-79, 283a (with folder), 288a (with folder), 293a (with folder), 306a (with folder), 318a (with folder), 323a, 367a, 369-72, 385a, 388, 407, 415, 422, 423, 425-34, 437-38, 439-42, 453a, 456, 457, 479, 480-97, 504a (with folder), 505-08, 517a, 519a, 521c, 545a (with folder), 572a, 575a, 582a, B11, C3-7, C11, Z69a (prefecture issue from 1991).
