1774 cover   image1853 (June 9 and July 8), Two covers from New Britain to Canada, the June 9 cover franked by a single #11A, cancelled by red grid, red straightline "PAID" handstamp with manuscript "7" (to make up the proper 10¢ rate to Canada) crossed out, the cover forwarded (unpaid, black Canadian 6[d] (US 10¢ equivalent) due marking (tying the stamp)) from Quebec back to Saratoga, NY; red "CANADA" banner and "Forwarded" handstamps; the July 8 cover to Montreal franked two #11A, each red grid-cancelled, with matching "PAID [4]" and full strike of ribbon "U. STATES." handstamp alongside; latter cover with creases that do not affect the stamps, Fine to Very Fine, a pretty pair, June 9 cover ex Judd. (Image)
