Brennan & Co. of New York, ca 1865; additionally, there is a 1828 New York State lottery ticket and a 1936 New York "Golden Stakes" ticket booklet with seven mint tickets; also includes a photocopy of an 18 page article, "When Massachusetts Played the Lottery", from the September 1949 issue of The New England Quarterly, A fascinating little collection. 4002   imageCivil War - Paper Ephemera, Small collection of items including a hand-colored print of "Camp Hicks near Frederick, Md., 12th Regt. Massachusetts Vols., Col. Webster", approximately 15"x11" (image 10"x6"), signed "From John M. Phillips" (a Sergeant in 12th Mass., folded into sixths with minor foxing; also to unused patriotic letterheads, one a hand-colored "Bird's Eye View of Washington D.C."; three post-war letters on patriotic letterheads; another letter on a U.S. Sanitary Commission letterhead (Jan 1665) in which the writer mentions shaking hands with Abraham Lincoln in the White House; eight war-related covers including a Union patriotic with letter on matching letterhead, two Sanitary Commissin, two House of Representatives, and two C.S.A.; and two used 1862 passenger tickets for the Western & Atlantic R.R., relative to the so-called Andrews Raid" of "The Great Locomotive Chase". 4003   image1893 Columbian Exposition Admission Tickets, the complete set of six A.B.N.Co. engraved tickets, plus two Chicago Day tickets and a general admission "Day of Sale" ticket; the engraved "Franklin" ticket bears the check letter "A", the others have no check letter; the two Chicago Day tickets have check letters "E" & "H"; the D.O.S. ticket is lettered "1/S"; a couple of the engraved tickets have a bit of light, barely noticeable edge toning (see photos), otherwise Very Fine.
