7		72	Great Britain, 1876, Queen Victoria, Unissued 8d purple brown, Large Garter watermark (Scott 72), a pretty mint example of this rare stamp, o.g., lightly hinged, exceptionally fresh with rich, unmistakable color; a small surface abrasion above the "E" of "PENCE" has been touched up with pencil, otherwise Fine to Very Fine, with a 2001 B.P.A. certificate. SG 156a; £9,750 ($12,590). 10,000 sheets of the 8d in purple brown were printed, but almost all were destroyed.
