Three Scott green binders with Specialty pages for British Colonies in Africa, carefully and lovingly assembled by a husband and wife team of philatelists over two decades, many beautiful and attractive items up to several hundred dollars catalogue-value, hundreds and hundreds of items in the $10-25 range with very high quality, mainly mint, some more recent appear never hinged, but also many extremely nice used examples on earlier issues; highlights include: Ascension, mainly complete to 1965; Basutoland complete except for 14 stamps, with many nice varieties; Bechuanalnd with strong nineteenth century, including Mafeking cancellations, over half the country complete; both British Central Africa and British East Africa with some beautiuful nineteenth-century items you'll have to see to believe; some nice Cameroons; Cape of Good Hope with triangles, triangles, triangles (18 in all!), nineteenth century is jam-packed; East Africa and Uganda over half complete! Gambia is stuffed with sparkling goodies from late-1860s until late-1960s; 20 German East Africa stamps; Gold Coast is eye-popping; Ghana complete from #1 through 1965, and with tremendous topicals into the late-1970s, including dozens of never hinged souvenir sheets; Griqualand West with 16 different items; Kenya and Kenya-Uganda-Tanganyika well over half complete into mid-1960s; Lagos is complete except for a dozen-or-so Scott numbers! Mauritius includes #9* and #19 and #21 used, other better items, 1935-1963 complete mint; Natal with #8, #10 and #14 mint, dozens and dozens of other nineteenth-century stamps, Edwardian issues complete except for a handful of Scott numbers; six New Republic items; very decent Nigeria including VF #49, and complete mint from 1935 to 1966 with some never hinged souvenir sheets; Northern Nigeria is over half complete; Northern Rhodesia is missing only five Scott numbers from completion; Nyasaland Protectorate continues the Hit Parade and is complete from #37* through #134*; Orange River Colony will pop your eyes; Rhodesia has many nineteenth century including #15-17 used and continues into mid-1960s; Rhodesia and Nyasaland near completion; St. Helena is well represented through 1966; Seychelles looks to be complete through 1966 except for about a dozen Scott numbers; Sierra Leone is strong in the nineteenth-century and it continues into the mid-1960s with many of the unusual issues; Somaliland Protectorate is about 90% complete; Southern Nigeria and Southern Rhodesia very strongly represented; South Africa is mainly complete through 1966, including many bi-lingual pairs, complete mint bi-lingual pairs of semi-postals and strong air mails, postage dues and officials; South-West Africa with many bi-lingual pairs; three Stellaland mint items; Sudan is complete into 1960s minus only a half-dozen Scott numbers; many nice Swaziland; Tanganyika has some pretty giraffes; Togo has 15 different stamps; many dozen Transvaal; Tristan Da Cunha with #12*; Zanzibar is well-represented into the mid-1960s; Zululand has a few choice cancels; the breadth and range of this collection, its variety, the sharpness and quality of the stamps is rarely seen in this kind of collection; needless to say, you must examine this collection; please bring your sun-glasses so you aren't blinded by these gems!
