2967 15 image1867, 10c black on vermilion (Scott 15), tied on folded letter cover by mute rhombus of dots, adjacent Roma Sep. 12, 1870 circular datestamp, addressed Civitavecchia with receiving backstamp. As known Italy declared war on the Papal States on Sep. 10, 1870, and the Italian Army crossed the frontier of the papal territory on Sep. 11 and advanced slowly toward Rome, Fine to Very Fine, exceptinonal cover that was sent in the last day of normal postal service.

We noted two covers with stamps cancelled with St. Andrews Crosses from Ferrara; 5 Bajocchi tied on folded letter by grill cancel, and adjacent June 23, 1859 circular datestamp (Transition Period); 3 Bajocchi tied on cover with Rimini straight-line handstamp; 1856 cover with 2 Bajocchi tied by grill cancel, adjacent Bologna Feb. 19, 1856 circular datestamp, with postage notation from Modena, and several disinfection holes. A great lot for the postal historian, Fine to Very Fine.
