2486 ()   image1968, Visual Panographics, Proposed Three-Dimensional Stamps. Unrepeatable holding, comprising two letters addressed to George Knight, and related to the production of cards with stamps having three-dimensional effect. The lot contains three different groups of proposed stamp units to be printed on cards, mounted on business letterhead pages, with backgrounds in 3-D, with the outer layer made of a thin coating of ribbed plastic, depicting a baseball player, Captain America, USA 6 and the Statue of liberty, Jesus, Martin Luther King and other pictures as examples, Extremely Fine, a rare offering, and a once in a lifetime opportunity for the baseball or trading card collector.
Estimate $2,000 - 3,000

In 1968, some baseball cards were made using the experimental xograph 3-d technique. Production and distribution was limited, making these cards very tough to find. As this was done two years before Kellogs began its 3-d cards, this test was really breaking new ground. Bhutan was the first country to produce 3-d postal stamps in 1967, and this lot is accompanied with some examples.
