7292 nh california image1968-69, California Documentary Tax Stamp, two examples, one massively margined un-overprinted right sheet margin single, the other overprinted for use in Ventura County with value of $55.00; both pristine; unlisted in The State Revenue Catalog, o.g., never hinged, Very Fine.


In use for only six months, these stamps were primarily used on real estate transfers in each of California's 58 counties, the majority of the stamps being sold to title companies. They exist in 17 denominations from 55¢ to $550, though most smaller counties only used values through the $22, $33 or $44; at least four counties stopped at the $55 and three at the $110. Almost all remainders were destroyed.
