414 cover nepal imageEarly to Mid-18th Century Letter, an attractive item, on handmade mulberry paper measuring in full approximately 8 x 12¼ inches (207 x 310 mm), multiply folded down to about 4¼ x 2½ inches (105 x 63 mm) so as to fit into the foot postman's official bamboo carrying case; black wax seal (intact!) holding down three thin strips of paper that served to seal the letter; the letter appears to have been reduced slightly; we can't put a definite date on this—our linguistic skills don't stretch quite this far—but a remarkable early piece of Nepalese postal history, Very Fine.
