658 cover   imageU.S. Postal Service, Shanghai, China, duplex handstamp, Oct 3, 1922, ties a 2¢ carmine (499) on a pretty illustrated bamboo cover to Hermiston, Ore.; the envelope, which pictures a multicolor rural scene, is accompanied by the original, well-written three-page typed letter, datelined the same day as the postmark, on a matching illustrated bamboo letter sheet; contents describe the writer's visit to China with lots of interesting details, such as the "Chinese Coolies carrying three one-hundred pound sacks of flour on their backs" and sometimes earning "as high as 42¢ gold for their day's labor.", Very Fine.
