1376   imageGreat Britain, Serious Isles of Scilly Postal History Collection, 1829-modern, over 130 covers plus stamps (off and on piece), plus picture post cards and more, including a handfull of mint stamps, all relating to the Cornish Isles of Scilly, presented on homemade pages in three binders; the highlight of the collection is undoubtedly a magnificent strike of a "SCILLY" straightline postmark on an 1829 folded letter sheet (a second example of the postmark, on a docketed 1832 folded letter sheet, is less-well struck); also featured are an 1836 Penzance stampless folded letter sheet plus about a half-dozen Queen Victoria-franked items; nice selection of Airmail items including First Flight Covers (including helicopter), modern Great Britain First Day Covers cancelled in the Isles, a 1971 National Postal Strike First Day Cover of Outer Island Agents £1 Express on 10sh Local Postal Service Penzance label, incoming mail (including cover from USSR), Gugh Island covers, St. Mary's stamps, a slew of picture post cards relating to life on the Isles, and extensive write-ups providing history and background, Very Fine overall, a lovely holding; see a sampling online. 1379   imageGreat Britain, Mostly Mint Premium Items, 1881-2010, Mostly on stock cards and sheets, a lot of better material, as well as some complete sheets, booklets and numerous presentation packs from the Royal Mail. Many items in the $10-30 range, but some higher too, like a mint block of four of #268, gutter pair of MH176, used 223, and a smidgen of British Commonwealth, such as three sets of the 1948 reissue of the Falkland Dependencies #1L1-8, listed in Stanley Gibbons as #G9-16. Many other interesting items as well, for example, scarce Cinderella labels from the 1924 Mount Everest Expedition and the 1954 Australian Expedition to Antarctica, a Queen Elizabeth II Portrait Coin Collection from the Royal Mint, Lundy mint blocks of four, a souvenir programme from the 1937 Coronation of King George VI & Queen Elizabeth and one from the 1953 Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, both in excellent condition, as well as a well-filled stamp album from back in the day commemorating Queen Elizabeth II's ascension with mounted mint from across the British Empire. 1381   imageGreat Britain, 1950's, Herm Island Pigeon Post Covers, Large Holding. 150 small pigeon post envelopes (3.5" x 2.5") each franked with a 1s pigeon stamp printed by Waterloo & Sons in London and tied by 1950's c.d.s. Herm Is land postmark. Envelopes have metal grommet at bottom left to attach to pigeon's leg. These were produced by Tatham Stamp Co. and their descriptive text detailing this most unusual mail service accompanies most of the envelopes. This may be the largest remaining holding of these covers. Recent eBay sales have been in the $10-$50 range each! Their potential value as a promotional item should not be overlooked.
