1472   imageGerman Area, Mint & Used Collection with History Lesson, 1849-1948, A dated but beautifully-made and compelling homemade album providing a thorough overview of German philately from its early beginnings as fragmented states to the end of the Third Reich. Well-illustrated and annotated in German with sections on the States, the Kaiserreich, Weimar Republic, Third Reich, Colonies, Plebiscites, Allied & Soviet Zones, and countries with regions having previously belonged to Germany, such as Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Denmark. No great rarities but numerous stamps in the $10-30 range; some material too you don't see every day, like locals from Bochum and Hamburg, telegraph stamps from the North German Confederation and Bavaria, and Hamburg and Heligoland cut squares.
