Daniel F. Kelleher Auctions, LLC Sale - 833

William H. Harrison Lifetime Collection of Advanced High Quality United States Singles - February 11-12, 2026

The Harrison Collection was formed multi-generationally, with criteria that was how I “learned” stamp collecting by legendary Pittsburgh Dealer Mark Hanna, whose office was in the Jenkins Arcade. His advice: “Acquire the nicest, facially attractive example that one can find and afford”. This considers all of the attributes that stamps possess: Centering; color; paper, perforation and if used, the cancelation. These aesthetic values are often not taken into account when a stamp is numerically graded. The Philatelic Foundation’s adds an “XQ” extra quality, when they feel this is appropriate. Coins often have a “+” grade when it possesses a unique attribute that pushes the visual appeal. The Harrisson collection was formed taking into account the eye-appeal, which is really exceptional and above and beyond grades often assigned. One of my favorite restaurants in London, “Sexy Fish”, is how I would describe these stamps and their attributes. The sale is comprised of items, each selected for its own visual appeal, often possessing a freshness or aura, “Sexy Fish”!

I hope you enjoy this sale as much as we have had in presenting it, as each time I peruse the items I fall in love with them over and over.
