BACCHUS MARSH' (farming) in sepia on unsurfaced buff stock ACSC P22(1)A, slightly bumped corners othewise very fine unused, Cat $1000. 'COIMADAI' was added to make a set of 12 after the original eleven views had been printed; this printing is from
the 'single unit plate' (with distinctive Nick in Curve of 'C' of 'CARD') and may be a proof that was subsequently put into stock, as the ACSC lists it CTO and used also. The similar 'Basteri' example sold for $504 (Sale 264 Lot 4032). With a Setting
1 ('P' of 'POST CARD' 5mm from dividing line) card 'SPRING ST MELB' on surfaced white stock for comparison. (2)
Fun fact: Coimadai (pronounced "kuh/my/duh") is one of many Victorian towns that now lies below a reservoir, in this case Lake Merrimu, north-west of Melton. (Image1) (Image2)
