The ACSC states that "Multiples are rare, the only examples presently recorded being a block of 8 and two blocks of 4". (Image1) (Image2)

10/- grey & aniline (eosin) pink ACSC 50E (SG 136) with 'SPECIMEN' Type C Overprint with Damaged (Shaved) 'S' and Damaged (Hooked)
'C' of 'SPECIMEN' ACSC 50xc and Duty Plate variety White Flaw (Large Island) at Top of Gulf of Carpentaria additionally with Shading Line Break (Small Island) W of Strahan, Tasmania [Pos R25] ACSC 48(D)i, hinge remainder, Cat $12,500 for the Specimen
Overprint variety ($1450 for the Duty Plate variety without overprint). The Gulf of Carpentaria flaw is obscured by the Specimen Overprint, but the Tasmania flaw clearly confirms the position: see Lots 793 & 794 above. Only 40 formes of 30, or 1200
stamps, were overprinted with Type C; this Overprint variety occurred only once on the forme, so a maximum of 40 examples can exist (only 10 of those with this Duty Plate variety). Gerald Fon's unplated example - similar centring; lightly mounted -
sold at our auction of 25.3.2025 for $9600 (Sale 259 Lot 436). (Image1) (Image2)

10/- grey & aniline (eosin) pink ACSC 50D (SG 136) with 'SPECIMEN' Type C Overprint with Shaved 'P' of 'SPECIMEN' ACSC 50xd and
Duty Plate variety Broken Coast of Bonaparte Gulf [Pos R56] ACSC 50(D)l, unmounted, Cat $2500+ for the Specimen Overprint variety (or $1450+ for the Duty Plate variety) mounted. Compare the Broken Coast here - a piece jutting out in a downwards
direction - with that on the adjoining unit [Pos R57] which is a neater break with the second Shading Line forming a 'new' Coastline. The Break on [Pos L57] is not listed in the ACSC, perhaps because being neater it is not as obvious. (Image1) (Image2)

10/- grey & aniline (eosin) pink ACSC 50E (SG 136) with 'SPECIMEN' Type C Overprint with Damaged (Shaved) 'N' of 'SPECIMEN' ACSC
50xe and Vignette Plate variety White Collar on Kangaroo [Pos R36] ACSC 50(V)t, light gum aging, small hinge remainder, Cat $12,500 for the Specimen overprint variety (or $1450 for the Vignette Plate variety without overprint).
The ACSC states in the Introduction that the Specimen overprint variety "is known on Pos 6 of the overprint forme (exact position yet to be determined) ... [it] probably arose during use and may not occur on all stamps found with Type C overprint".
The overprint forme was a 30-on electrotype plate applied twice on each pane, once on [Pos 1-30] and again on [Pos 31-60]. The extent of the damage on this example is similar to that on Lot 1104 above (a Third Watermark £2 also from [Pos 6] on the
plate), but compare the next Lot. (Image1) (Image2)

10/- grey & aniline (eosin) pink ACSC 50E (SG 136 shade variant) with 'SPECIMEN' Type C Overprint with Damaged (Shaved) 'N' of
'SPECIMEN' ACSC 50xe and Duty Plate variety Very Short Spencer Gulf additionally with Colour Flaw (Fishing Boat) NW of Northern WA Coast below first 'A' of 'AUSTRALIA' [Pos R60] ACSC 50(D)f, small hinge marks, Cat $12,500+ for the Specimen overprint
variety plus a premium for the scarcer shade. The Very Short Spencer Gulf variety occurs on [Pos L12 & L60]; the secondary variety confirms this as from the latter position.
The ACSC states in the Introduction that the Specimen overprint variety "is known on No.6 of the overprint forme (exact position yet to be determined) ... [it] probably arose during use and may not occur on all stamps found with Type C overprint".
The overprint forme was a 30-on electrotype plate applied twice on each pane, once on [Pos 1-30] and again on [Pos 31-60].
This stamp suggests the damaged unit is from the lower-right corner [Pos 30], but compare Lot 1104 above and the previous Lot which suggest it is from the upper-right corner [Pos 6]. The extent of the damage on those two Lots is less than that
evident here, which raises the possibility that a similar variety occurs on both [Pos 6] and [Pos 30]. (Image1) (Image2)

10/- grey & aniline (eosin) pink ACSC 50 (SG 136) with 'SPECIMEN' Type D Overprint block of 8 (2x4) comprising two blocks of 4 ACSC
50xg including Duty Plate variety Broken NSW Coast near Sydney and White Flaw on Upper-Right of 'I' of 'AUSTRALIA' [Pos R43] ACSC 50(D)j and Vignette Plate varieties Fox-Faced Kangaroo [Pos R38] and Open-Mouthed Kangaroo [Pos R55] ACSC 50(V)u & vb,
variable centring, unmounted, Cat $3000+ for two mounted blocks of 4 in the 'grey & pink shade' or $4000+ for Specimen Overprint singles in this scarce shade (or $14,000+ for singles in this scarce shade without overprint).
The ACSC states that the two aniline shades "are believed to comprise the last printing made in December 1937. Most of this printing was probably withdrawn and destroyed following the issue of the 10/- Robes definitive in November 1938". See our
comments in the sub-heading; on our census, the Type D Specimen Overprint on 'aniline' is rare: this collection included only four items, this impressive block, two further singles in this shade, plus a single in the 'dark grey' shade (Lot 1493
below). (Image1)
