 £1 chestnut & blue with the Watermark Inverted ACSC 52a (SG 44aw) 'JBC' Monogram single ACSC 52zb, the Monogram slightly trimmed
(95% complete), the lower margin neatly trimmed slightly diagonally as the sides, a small hinge mark, Cat $65,000 but unpriced with the watermark inverted. Ex Arthur Gray - sold for US$69,000 - Julian Sterling - sold for $54,900 - and Peter O'Rourke:
sold for $49,350. Colonel Harrie Evans' example with regular margins - also with the watermark inverted - sold in 2001 for $40,320 (Sale 81 Lot 278) and in 'Dubois' (III) for CHF23,180.
The ACSC states that "monograms are extremely rare ... of the JBC monogram there are three mint singles (one in the Royal Collection), one of which has the watermark inverted in the chestnut and blue shade". Obviously there are two. (Image1) (Image2)

of all units, perf reinforcing between the lower-right unit and margin otherwise unmounted, Cat $12,250+ for singles (£2600+ for mounted singles). There is a suggestion that the oval elongated perforations may be the result of Double Perforations
