was flipped by a gust of wind on landing on the Hooghly River at Calcutta, the first with the stamp washed-off, the other with Blue Funnel Line 8c meter (EAMS rate for 13 months only), very fine to superb strikes of 'SALV GED MAIL/EX . CENTURION'

1940s surface & airmail envelopes to a mail order house in Melbourne mostly from Singapore plus a few from Penang & Perak, interest
in the censor markings including a very fine strike of the 6-line 'MALAYAN CENSORSHIP REGULATIONS/...' (Morenweiser #9; rated 10/10) on reverse of cover from Penang, three with Malaya Patriotic Fund labels comprising Small '2c', Medium '1c' (on the
face) and Large '1c.' a few registered, Straits KGVI 2c green Postal Card with 2c green added endorsed "Air Mail" but probably not flown, several with 'BMA/MALAYA' frankings including two used in Perak, etc, condition variable.

1941 (Dec ?) large General Electric New York cover (280x225mm) to "The Borneo Co Ltd/Singapore, Straits Settlements", water-stained
with peripheral damage & the stamps washed-off, complete roneo'd 'This article was damaged by/sea water when the ship in/which the mail was carried/was involved in an accident/en route to Singapore" label, the only date evidence is '25-DE/CC'
(Christmas Day) apparently part of the addressing. War with Japan was declared 7.12.1941. We speculate that the ship was damaged or sunk by the Japanese in January 1942. Singapore fell on 15.2.1942. Research required. (Image1) (Image2)

1941 (Oct 3) envelope from British naval serviceman airmail to England endorsed "By Pan-American Clipper & airmail throughout" with
'FROM H.M.SHIP/PASSED BY CENSOR' navy 'tombstone' cachet in blue and KGVI Keyplates $2 green & red solo tied by 'FIELD POST OFFICE/S.P.501' cds cancel used at Singapore paying the all-the-way airmail service rate, light crease at left not affecting
the adhesive or markings. The Pan-Am Trans-Pacific Clipper service started making regular stops at Singapore only from May 1941, and the service was suspended after the Pearl Harbour attack on 8.12.1941. (Image1) (Image2)
