1965 Parliamentary Conference 2/- Wellington with the Magenta Printing (City Highlights and Mace & Sceptre at Upper-Left)
Completely Omitted SG 837a (CP S102aZ), minor (characteristic ?) gum disturbance, Cat £1400 (NZ$4000). Sold at a New Zealand auction for NZ$2000 plus commission. All the authorities state that a faint outiline of the Mace & Sceptre is evident,
suggesting this is not a total colour omission. It appears to us that the regalia were printed twice, magenta being added to give the regalia 'substance'. With a normal stamp for comparison. (2) (Image1) (Image2)

838a (CP S103aZ), well-centred, unmounted, Cat £1200 (NZ$3000). Sir Robert Baden-Powell's original concept was for an arrowhead pointing due north. Concerns that it was a militaristic symbol caused him to re-name it as a fleur-de-lis, a symbol of
peace. In recent times, both appelations have been used, varying from country to country. (Image1) (Image2)

1966 Christmas (Virgin & Child) 3d four-colour photographic essay on gummed unwatermarked paper (128x131mm) as SG 842 (CP SC7a) but
1) wider than the issued stamp; 2) '3D' at Right instead of at Left; 3) different caption for the painting; 4) different typeface for 'NEW ZEALAND' and 'CHRISTMAS 1966'; and 5) with 'DE LA RUE' imprint below the design, various notations including
"Please return to Design Dept/TDLR", light bend at upper-right. Delightful. Ex De La Rue Archives and Marcel Stanley. A marvellous essay, demonstrating how significantly a design may be changed from conception to production. (Image1) (Image2)
