4 from the base of the sheet, CTO with Melbourne cds with the dateslugs removed, full unmounted gum, Cat £10,000+ for singles. Superb. Ex Australia Post Archives Sale 1 (1987) & Ed Williams - sold in 2002 for $8400 - and at at our auction of

Compound Perf 11½x12½x11½x11½, light indistinct squared-circle cancel. An unrecognised rarity that is unlisted in Gibbons and in the ACSC. Ex Maxwell and JRW (Bill) Purves, who states at pp76-77 that the variety was caused by one side being

1902-04 QV Tall Stamps with Thin 'POSTAGE' 1/- brown vertical pair from the base of the sheet Imperforate Between & at the Base
ACSC S30Bbb (SG 275b), characteristic rough perfs, hinge remainder at the top, Cat $2500 (£2750). Ex 'Dubois' Part I: sold for SFr1460. The ACSC states "Ten pairs exist; one is in the Royal Collection". Four of the pairs are in two blocks of 4.

1902-04 QV De La Rue Tall Stamps Thin 'POSTAGE' Perf 12 3d deep olive-green vertical pair from the base of the sheet [Pos 46/56],
the upper unit with Misplaced 'POSTAGE' & 'THREE PENCE', the lower unit with 'POSTAGE' Omitted ACSC S19c/ca (SG 280a; Cat £4500), well-centred, full unmounted gum, Cat $6000+ for singles. Superb. One of the most outstanding errors of the Tall Stamps
and of State-Period Commonwealth of Australia. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2015) states "Great rarity...there were only ten examples of the POSTAGE Omitted error", most of which are in blocks of 4 or larger. The ACSC states "One sheet ... showed the
overprint plate misplaced upwards 4½mm ... The lower row is without 'POSTAGE' at all". Gary Diffen's block of 4 sold for £3840. (Image1)

lower-right of the sheet, the lower units with an Additional Row of Horizontal Perfs Misplaced above the Value Tablet and Corrected with Another Line of Perf 11 ACSC S37b, some minor perf separation/reinforcing, Cat $9000+ for singles (£4800+ for
normal singles). Ex Rev James Mursell and Don Pearce: sold for $4550 (Sale 249 Lot 1412). Only four such blocks were recorded, but the ACSC illustrates a lower pair, indicating that at least one of the blocks has been broken-up. Absent from the
Michael Blake, 'Besancon' and Gary Diffen collections. Ed Williams' two normal mint singles sold for $1415 and $2265 respectively.

of the sheet comprising two horizontal strips of 3 Imperforate Between and at Left ACSC S52bb (SG 302aa), light vertical bend across the central units, ink-stain on the reverse at lower-left just shows through the face, Cat $10,000+ (£13,000+), for
two strips of 3. One of the great error pieces of the early Federal Period. The ACSC records only this block of 6 and a strip of 3 but Gary Diffen noted a second strip that is "badly toned". His strip of 3 - also with light vertical bend - sold for
