Proud), many registered with a wide variety of R labels & cachets including handstamp with "FPO 36" manuscript cut-out used as a 'label', also Military & RAAF POs, Security numbers noted 'R.A.A.F. 6300' & '... 6309' labels and 'R.A.A.F./6308' cds
with 'POSTAGRAM' cachet, Official Mail, civilian censors noted '1/2' of Townsville and a few posted through civilian POs, Comfort Fund envelopes, Postal Stationery with Registration Envelopes and Air Letters, Naval Mail, etc, selected well
above-average clarity of strikes, condition a little variable but most are fine to very fine.

1942 (mid) stampless OAS covers from troops in Ceylon with 'AIF FIELD PO/21AP42/No 22', '.../15MY42/No 23', '.../1JE42/No 24' or
'ARMY POST OFFICE/1JE42/067' cds, the last a front only, fine to very fine. A very scarce quartet. Anticipating a Japanese assault, Churchill demanded Australia send troops to Ceylon. Prime Minister Curtin reluctantly diverted troops returning from
the Middle East to Ceylon, where they were stationed for only six weeks.
