that day. One of the smallest Australian entires we have seen, and the earliest such item we know about. (Image1)

Scone datestamp, fine strike of the rare rounded-boxed 'SCONE/FREE' handstamp in red, GPO arrival backstamp, minor defects. Sold at our auction of 8.11.2013 for $1690 (Sale 185 Lot 288). The early datestamps had the year fixed. Each December, the

1850 small envelope to "Hartley Post Office/Bathurst Road" with Sydney Views 1d dull carmine Plate I (No Clouds) SG 2 horizontal
pair (margins just clear to large) tied by one of two good to fine strikes of the rare BN '12' - rated RRRR - of Cowra (poor backstamp), good oval 'CARCOR' (error for 'CARCOAR') transit backstamp, light aging and minor peripheral faults. Rare
internal mail between country towns & an attractive 'Number One' cover. Sold at our auction of 19.10.2007 for $4890 (Sale 131 Lot 422). Cowra PO 1.1.1850. Carcoar PO 1.1.1843. Hartley PO renamed from Hassan's Walls 1.1.1841.
Ben Palmer's Census 1851/194. The datestamps have both been thought to be of 1851. However, neither has a clear year and we believe that usage in 1850 is more likely, especially as the 1d Plate II (with Clouds) was issued from -.8.1850. This cover
was the subject of an article in 'The London Philatelist' of March 2006. (Image1) (Image2)
