1942 (Sept 17) Japanese Occupation usage of Singer Sewing Machines illustrated envelope (front only) endorsed below New Jersey, USA
return address as sent from "Tebing Tinggi" Island, Riau Province, Netherlands Indies to Medan, franked with Straits Settlements KGVI 5c brown Type 1 overprint in red (SG J150) x4 (two pairs) tied by 'TEBING TINGGI/DELI' cds cancels, censored with
plain tape at left (large-part trimmed off) tied by boxed cachet with a better strike of the cachet at top, minor blemishes. Rare: Gibbons states that "various small Dutch East Indies islands near Singapore were administered as part of Malaya. Stamps
of the Japanese Occupation of Malaya were issued to the Post Offices ...". Tebing Tinggi lies around 100km E of Singapore directly across the Strait of Malacca. See also Lots 3719 & 3720 below. (Image1) (Image2)

1942 & 1943 Japanese Occupation Changi Prisoner of War Camp, Singapore two red/cream Japanese POW postcards to Sydney but processed
through Melbourne 1) undated with 'Sce DES PRISONNIERS DE GUERRE' handstamp in rosine, two characters for 'Malai' in violet & han of Okasaki in scarlet, minor soiling; and 2) without the rosine handstamp, message dated "21-2-43" with han of
Shimogahara in violet, very fine. The first item is identifiable as from the first issue of postcards in June 1942 by the fact that Okasaki's han appears only on this batch.
