1850-51 Sydney Views 1d crimson-lake Plate II (Clouds) on Hard Greyish or Bluish Paper SG 9 with Significant & Obvious Doubling of
the Design, margins close to large, light indistinct cancel largely clear of the central vignette, Cat £425+. Superb. RPSL Certificate (2021) states "Smudged print" and "Memo: not a double print". We agree that it is not a double print, in the sense
that the paper has not been set to the stone twice. However, the printing is not 'smudged', which would imply a lateral movement as if a thumb had redistributed the ink. Rather, the doubling is quite regular, in the nature of a kiss print. (Image1) (Image2)

with 'PENOE' for 'PENCE' [Pos 23-24] as SG 35f, margins close to large, light but untidy Sydney bars cancels, Cat £700+ for singles. Gibbons list the 'PENOE' variety only for the printings on Vertically-Laid Paper (which this definitely is not); we
expect that is an oversight rather than this being a 'new discovery'. (Image1) (Image2)
