1874-84 Justice of the Peace 'turned' lettersheets & a couple of other items each with one or more manuscript endorsements mostly
simple "Not known" but also "Gone Away", etc, some postmark interest, condition rather mixed (19); also 1874 outer portion with rare 'CAMPASPE' (faint but evident) & 'CLARE INN' cds, 1883 form with rare 'BUNGAREE' and ERDs for 'DUNNSTOWN' (poor) &
'WARRENHEIP'; also a range of Barred Numerals including at least five rated RRR, but the strikes are generally poor to good only.

1876 (May 16) triple-rate mourning cover to "Kingstown/Ireland" with scarce franking of Bell 9d lilac-brown/pink Perf 12 SG 185
three very fine singles tied by Melbourne duplex, 'KINGSTOWN/JY4/76' arrival backstamp, minor faults. Ex Guy Linfield and Hugh Freeman: sold at our auction of 23.9.2011 for $529 (Sale 168 Lot 775). Geoff Kellow at page 190 states "Covers are
especially rare since the 9d Brindisi rate lasted only another 8 months." On 1.7.1876, the rate was reduced to 8d, the need for a 9d denomination ceased, and the balance of the printing was revalued. [The illustration is above Lot 1338]. (Image1) (Image2)

1878 (May 18) mourning envelope to Cornwall, England with rare franking of Bell 2d violet Emergency Printings on Light Green Paper
SG 199 pair & single (Cat £150 x3+) tied by just-discernible Barred Numeral '81' and light but fine 'TARRAVILLE' cds alongside, Truro arrival of 'MY 14' on reverse where re-directed to Kent with London & Sandwich transit backstamps and 'WINGHAM/JU
5/78' arrival on the face, a couple of minor blemishes. Gibbons states that the Emergency Printings on green paper were issued in February 1878. RPSV Certificate (2025). (Image1) (Image2)

the same day in magenta. The Printed Matter rate was ½d within Victoria and 1d to the other colonies. (Image1) (Image2)
