1892-93 British South Africa Company Arms £5 sage-green SG 12, a few slightly uneven perfs, postally used with light but clear
almost complete 'FRANCESTOWN/AP 27/98/S.AFRICA' single-ring cds, Cat £500+. Francistown PO opened July 1897 when operations were transfered from Tati after this was by-passed by the Railway. Both POs were located in British Bechuanaland, but under
the control of the BSAC until Sept 1898, when transferred to Bechuanaland administration with that Colony's stamps used. See also Lot 2520 below.
