2100 c imagePOSTAL HISTORY: 1945 (July 1) airmail to Australia with KGVI Pictorials 30c & 1/- tied by just-identifiable 'NGOBIL/KENYA' cds, apparently carried by air from Kisumu on the Imperial Airways Flying Boat service as far as India where censored with 'C/12' octagonal cachet on the face and largely very fine 'AIR MAIL SERVICE/NOT AVAILABLE' handstamp applied alongside, docketed "Received August 31st" on the face, minor blemishes & a little roughly opened across the back flap. The standard British Empire 1/30c airmail rate provided carriage by Imperial Airways, but after the fall of Singapore in February 1942, this service terminated at Calcutta. Civilian all-the-way airmail to Australia was not re-instated until late-1945.
