RUSSIA: 1906 colotype (?) cards of the 1905 Revolution with several views of the barricades a couple with rebels standing defiantly
on top, others of bomb damage to buildings & infrastructure and of wreckage in the streets, almost certainly printed in Russia but with the captions also in French, most with some soiling & two have repaired tears, unused. Produced at a time when the
authorities were easing restrictions on publishers but they remained under close surveillance.

TRANSVAAL: 1896 Bennett 'The Late Crisis in Johannesburg' sepia scenes on South African Republic 1d Postal Cards comprising 'A BOER
PATROL', 'FORTIFICATIONS AT AUCKLAND PARK' and 'SCENE IN SIMMONDS STREET' all unused, and 'MARCH PAST COMMISSIONER STREET' with message headed "21.9.96" to Belgium with Johannesberg cds of the same date. Very early & rare PPCs referencing the
ill-fated Jameson Raid 29.12.1895 to 2.1.1896, a botched attempt by 500 BSAC Police out of Rhodesia, lead by Leander Starr Jameson, to overthrow the ZAR government.
