Pre-stamp mail collection with four albums from England from 1669 with many early but mostly unsatisfactory early Bishop Marks,
some Free Franks and a few Welsh items, then an album of London Penny & Two Penny Posts with many fine strikes of the undated Receiving House markings; and album of Irish mail including a few straight-line town markings, many of these with maps
showing the routes taken; and four albums of Scottish material from late 18th century, a few with early Edinburgh Bishop Marks & early undated town markings, etc; also an album of Numeral Cancellations mostly the numeral-halves of duplexes but with
many very fine to superb strikes. The condition is very mixed with a great many affected by heavy filing folds, the saving grace being the letters within that offer lots of interesting insights into life through the developing Industrial Revolution.
Good value at the estimate. Weighs 25kg.
