607 = image1964 (Aug 5) large-part parcel tag (trimmed) to Englehard Industries (Vic), with exceptional Four Issue Five Colour franking of QEII 2d + Flower 2/- + Cattle 5/- + Arms 10/- & £2 green strip of 3 (undercatalogued at $1250 for a single on cover with other stamps) tied by very fine 'THEODORE/QLD-AUST' cds, registration label removed from the adress-side. A remarkable internal article. From 1.10.1960, the maximum weight for a parcel was doubled, from 11lb to 22lb, for which the maximum fee was £1/6/-. Our understanding of the rates is that because this article exceeded 22lb, it had to be paid at the domestic letter rate. However, without knowing if it was to be carried by surface or air (and without certainty that it's a registration label that was removed), we can't confidently assess the actual rate. Suggestions invited. (Image1) (Image2) (Image3)
