WILLIAMSTOWN RACING CLUB: Huge ledger containing 401 programmes of forthcomong races from 1889 to 1941, with winners' names added
in manuscript, and additional details regarding weather, weights, attendances, unusual occurrences, meetings held at Caulfield or Moonee Valley; includes the 1931 Underwood Stakes won by Phar Lap, mainly Fair/Fine condition. Also a 1940s photograph
of 9 racing personalities including JJ Liston, Sir Norman Robinson & EA Underwood. The programmes for the last 4 meetings have no results as the track was closed. [A marvellous archive. The racecourse was opened in 1869, and the last recorded race
was on 10 February 1940, after which the army commandeered the racecourse for the remainder of World War II. In 1947, fire destroyed the grandstands, and the following year Williamstown Racing Club was forced to merge with the Victorian Trotting &
Racing Association to form the new Melbourne Racing Club]. (Image1) (Image2)

1900 Paris Olympics photograph album titled 'Celebrated Marksmen & Champions of England, America, The Continent & Australia',
containing 24 large-format albumen (?) photographs including 'Monte Carlo Casino & Shooting Ground', 'Melbourne Gun Club', 'The Gun Club, London', and marksmen including Donald Mackenzie (Australia), HJ Roberts (England), H Journo (France), Baron de
Vriere (Belgium) & Crittenden Robinson (USA); endorsed inside "To my old and true friend James Woodruff, With all the best of good wishes, Jan 1st 1899, Donald MacKintosh", generally very fine. A marvellous memento of the era.
Donald Mackintosh was an Australian sports shooter who, in his prime, was widely regarded as a World Champion. In 1992 he was posthumously awarded Olympic gold and bronze medals for pigeon-shooting events deemed to have formed part of the 1900 Summer
Olympics in Paris. The IOC later reversed its decision and re-classified the events as "non-Olympic", which seems extraordinary considering that the modern 'trap' events involve shooting 'clay' pigeons. A keen photographer, it is likely that most of
the images in the album are his own work. (Image1) (Image2)
