POSTAL HISTORY: 1942-44 mail from a British POW officer to his wife in South Africa comprising a simple postal card dated "4-7-42";
two more formal postal cards with typed "Jinsen Camp, Chosen" (21.11.1942) or "Chosen POW Camp" (26.7.1944); three later plain envelopes with POW cachets & typed "Chosen POW Camp" x2 or "Jinsen Japan" with the lengthy typed letters dated 23.9.1943,
26.11.1943 and 20.1.1944; and an airgraph London-South Africa with text of message received from Korea (fine) & a couple of minor items; rather scruffy with some archivel tape repairs but all are presentable. The lengthy letters must have been a
privilege for officers. The first states: "...stayed Changi for six months before coming here..." then a list of friends killed (not censored). In the last "...mail is now coming from everywhere...Have taken up shorthand" (!)
