ORANGE FREE STATE: early-1900 usage of OVS formular postal card with '1½d./V.R.I.' on 2d tied by shield device but not cancelled,
to South Australia with 'DAWESLEY' transit (rated RR) & 'NAIRNE' arrival squared-circles, the latter tying the stamp, the message is in faded pencil & is largely illegible. [Mount Beevor was a major merino stud, owned at the time by Thomas Hope
Murray. It was sold in 1906 to Norman Edward Brice and, in 1949, to the patrician Downer Family. There was never a Mount Beevor post office]
