639 oversize cover image1872 complete box lid (380x296mm) to Dorset, endorsed "Parcel only without Letter", on arrival forwarded to "The Shrubbery/Basingstoke", rounded corners & a bit stained at left but not folded. A truly remarkable and impressive survivor. [For years, we have encouraged clients to seriously collect parcel-related mail. This fabulous item should inspire someone to do so]

640 long cover image1883 (Aug 11) large-part linen-lined cover-front to London "p Liguria" with rare franking of 2/- dull carmine SG 144 with compound Perf 10x11½-12½ irregular block of 7 (4x2, without the first unit) plus Perf 10x11½ 6d bright blue SG 140, 'SHIP MAIL ROOM' duplex of AU11/83 & a small back flap attached with 'PLYMOUTH/SP19/SHIP-LETTER' transit b/s (no year slug), ironed-out vertical fold & minor blemishes. 2/- frankings are very scarce. This remarkable 14/6d franking is one of the highest Perkins Bacon frankings recorded. Several other similar items from this correspondence - with rates as high as 17/6d - have survived, but most have significant defects. Ex Don Pearce.
