AVIATION: 1919 American IFS real photo card (blank back; proof?) 'Transatlantic Flight May 14th 1919/US Squadron of NC Planes/starting
on their history making flight', showing the three seaplanes NC-1 NC-3 & NC-4 departing from Rockaway NY. Only NC-4 completed the crossing via the Azores. The achievement is little-known because only two weeks later, the British pair of Alcock &
Brown made the first non-stop trans-Atlantic flight, collecting a prize of £10,000 offered by London's 'Daily Mail']
