FRANK WORRELL'S WEST INDIES TEST CAP maroon wool, embridered West Indies badge on front, fine match-used condition. Together with a
c.1960-61 West Indies ribbon. They have been on display at the SCG. [Frank Worrell played 51 Tests 1948-63, and became the first black cricketer to captain the West Indies cricket team for an entire series. His most notable tour was the 1960-61 tour
to Australia. Both Worrell and his opposing captain Richie Benaud encouraged their teams to play attacking cricket. The first Test of the series reulted in a dramatic tie - the first in the history of Test cricket. Although the West indies lost the
series 2-1, with one draw in addition to the tie, they were adored by the crowds and were given a large ticker-tape parade in Australia at the end of the tour. Since the 1960-61 series, the Frank Worrell Trophy is awarded to the winner of the Test
series between Australia and the West Indies}.
