The Loose Ship Letter marking is of an unlisted type, similar to Hosking #1343 of Adelaide but only 37x3mm & with oval 'O's. Believed to be the only recorded example.

The revalued card was issued in -.8.1912 to use up old stock for the reduced British Empire postcard rate introduced on 1.5.1911; the uprating was required to meet the 1½d foreign postcard rate.
