1097 V imagePOSTAGE DUES: 1905-09 Crown/A 5d dull scarlet & yellow-green ACSC VD38 (SG D38) with the Watermark Inverted, one of the better-centred examples, CTO with large-part o.g., Cat $2000 (£1700). Unissued. Sold at a Melbourne auction in 2021 for $2980. [The ACSC states that nine mint and only 4 CTO examples have been recorded, making this a key stamp for collectors of Postage Dues of the World. It also begs the question why mint stamps are priced at 20% (ACSC) or 76% (SG) more than CTO. Note also, that the inclusion in the ACSC of a price for 'used' is an error]
