893 PSE imagePOSTAL CARDS: 1911 Four-Line Heading HG 17 with 'ADDRESS' below 'F AUST', three examples hand-illustrated in India ink & signed "Saville H Sheard" comprising 1) a young girl with parasol; 2) a young woman with large ruffled colour; and 3) a glamorous older woman with absurdly large hat & ridiculously small parasol; toning/aging on the address-sides caused by the acidic paper of the album in which they were originally stored but the second of them is only a little affected. Believed to be the only recorded hand-illustrated examples of the so-called "artist card", as discussed in Hugh Campbell's 'Queensland Postal History' at pp269-270. Alan Griffiths is silent on this subject but does note that HG 17 was used for the famous Esperanto cards.
