6928 7 image1886 Ovpt on Bermuda 1s yellow brown apparantly fine used with A26 cancel but is a SPERATI FORGERY, signed in pencil Jean de Sperati on reverse. A very clever forgery created by bleaching a lower value of the series and printing the 1s on top. The paper and postmark are genuine, an optical illusion giving the effect that the black postmark is on top of the 1s 'stamp' impression whereas in fact it is the other way round. Sperati considered this to be one of his finest productions {F} [US1] (Start Price / Minimum Bid) = £142.40) (Image)
