42 image 1914-S PCGS MS64 Red. Regarding this issue and its scarcity in MS Red, David Lange, author of "The Complete Guide to Lincoln Cents" has opined that, " . . . mint state coins that have not been cleaned (and these are few in number) will be fairly dark, precluding the designation MS Red in all but a few instances. [Though there is] occasional leniency when it comes to grading the rarest dates, the commercial grading services have still certified very few 1914-S cents as MS Red. The present coin has an excellent strike for a 1914-S, a point to which Lange explains, " . . . . . . sharply struck coins are invariably dark, while the few bright examples tend to be mushy." This offering is surely a great opportunity for the Lincoln Cent specialist. (Image) (imageb) (All Images)

52 image 1923-S PCGS MS62 Red-Brown. An interesting coin in that it has a poorly-struck obv, but an exquisitely detailed rev. This attests to the fact that regarding cent production of the era, dies were retired one by one as opposed being replaced in pairs. (Image) (imageb) (All Images)
