1920, 2¢ deep rose, type Ia, imperf. Wavy line machine cancel, margins large showing the Schermack type III perfs at left and well clear at right showing the complete design (extremely rare as
such), intense deep rose color on bright paper; small corner crease in margin at bottom left, otherwise Very Fine, with 2011 A.P.S. certificate. Scott No. 482A; $65,000.
A HANDSOME AND DESIRABLE FULL MARGIN EXAMPLE OF THE 1920
2¢ TYPE IA IMPERFORATE WITH SCHERMACK TYPE III PRIVATE PERFORATIONS.
Scott 482A was issued imperforate by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and sold to the Schermack Company for use in its patented stamp-affixing machines. The
Schermack "Sealer and Stamper" machine typically applied stamps one at a time, and, in most cases, the hyphen-hole perfs on one side would be cut off as a result of the cutting blade not aligning with the space between stamps. The release of
imperforate sheets printed from the experimental Type Ia plates escaped the notice of contemporary collectors, resulting in a very small survival rate.

1917, 2¢ rose, type I. A.E.F. booklet pane of 30, o.g., never hinged, remarkable centering throughout for this notoriously off-centered pane, rich vibrant color, Extremely Fine and choice, a
wonderful example of this booklet pane rarity, it is believed that approximately only twenty examples are in existence, with 1997 P.F. certificate. Scott No. 499f; $29,000.
AN EXCEPTIONAL EXAMPLE OF THE 1917 2¢ A.E.F. BOOKLET PANE -
BELIEVED TO BE THE FINEST EXAMPLE IN EXISTENCE.
This pane has been noted to have a slight trace of hinging, contradicting the accompanying P.F. certificate which states it is never hinged. After careful examination, we feel the P.F.
certificate is correct in it's "never hinged" opinion. Despite this reflection, this pane sold in the R.A. Siegel #881 sale (09/21/2004) for $30,000 hammer versus a $28,000 catalog value. (Image1)

1923, 1¢ green, rotary sheet waste, perf 11. O.g., never hinged, rich bold color and very fresh, beautifully centered for this notoriously off-centered issue, F.-V.F., with 1971, 1992 and 2016
P.F. certificates, the latter Graded (F-VF 75, SMQ $60,000). Scott No. 544; $35,000 in the grade of fine.
A CHOICE AND EXTREMELY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 1923 1¢ PERF 11 ROTARY SHEET WASTE ISSUE IN NEVER HINGED CONDITION - WITH
APPROXIMATELY NINE SUCH EXAMPLES IN EXISTENCE.
A small quantity of 1¢ Rotary Press stamps was perforated 11 at the end of 1922, using remainder sheets from the earlier printings that were normally perforated in 10 gauge or 11/10
compound gauge. Most of the recorded copies of Scott 544 are off-center or have been damaged as a result of lower production standards and poor handling. It was not discovered until 1936 when three used examples came to light. (Image1)
