2564 /o      imageVenezuela, 1871-78 First Escuelas Transfer Type Collection. An amazing 30 year collection in 5 volumes put together by one of the co-authors of "VENEZUELA "ESCUELAS" 1871-1878 V Printing (1874)" (and VIII Printing (1877))", the collection comprises some 1661 stamps with many blocks from 465 of the possible 550 transfer types of the lithographic stones of the 9 printings of the 15 different values, this is a specialized collection for the specialist and no reference is made to the Scott catalogue which only lists the general types (Scott#22-36) and not the 9 printings which are recognized by collectors of this issue, all stamps are identified by transfer type based on the original work by Messrs Hall and Fulcher in 1924 in "The London Philatelist" and later published in book form with 170 pages under the title of "The Postage Stamps of Venezuela" (a labor of love but the owner is getting older!!), illustrated is a selection of the green higher values, an opportunity not to be missed.

Well formed collection on Scott album pages; virtually complete issues starting with Bosnia & Herzegovia forerunners complete mint including better 1920 surcharges, special deliveries & semi-postals complete with additional reversed surcharges and inverts on first issues, Croatia issues lacking only the 10f rarity, later issues only missing a couple stamps, semi-postals ans airs complete, dues complete, etc., occupationals with all the good Ljubljana set present mint; truly impressive completion with condition above the norm throughout, a must see to appreciate.

Large collection of tens of thousands of stamps housed in 32 large Scott International albums, with most countries well represented throughout; some of the stronger countries include strong Belgium, Canada, France (well filled with strength in mint) with airmails and colonies, Germany with some earlier material, India including earlier officials and revenues, Israel with tabs, Japan, Mexico, Monaco, Spain, strong mint Switzerland, Thailand and useful British Commonwealth throughout, perhaps the best is the "China" with Taiwan and good PRC including Thoughts of Mao set used CTO (cat $750) and earlier non-reprint material; inspection recommended for evaluation.
