The 1900 Summer Olympics, today officially known as the Games of the II Olympiad, was an international multi-sport event
which was celebrated in 1900 in Paris, France. No opening or closing ceremonies were held; competitions began on May 14 and ended on October 28. The Games were held as part of the 1900 World's Fair. In total, 997 competitors took part in 19
different sports. Most of the winners in 1900 did not receive medals, but were given cups or trophies. No Olympic stamps or cancels were created for the Paris games.

Worldwide, Olympic Collection, 1908. A small accumulation 8 cards mounted on exhibition pages, all written up covering the 1908 Olympics in London, included is a photo card (some creasing) signed by Martin
Sheridan (Gold Medalist in the 1904, 1906 & 1908 Discus Throw, two cards which talk about eyewitness accounts of the Games, "Have just seen the greatest race of the Century, 65 runners competed, it was grand.", a rare photo card to
the American J.J. Hayes, the eventual winner of the gold medal for the Marathon Race, cancelled on Aug. 4th, 1908 (roughly two weeks after the Marathon) with written message, "He's the winner but you would hardly know it over here as
the other fellow, Dorando is getting all the praise." (This refers to the disqualification of Italian runner Dorando Pietri, who staggered exhausted into the London stadium and collapsed several times, each time with officials coming to his
aid. The last 350 meters of the race taking 10 minutes to complete. Due to the aid he received, he was later disqualified and the second finisher, J.J. Hayes was named the Gold Medalist), a great lot for the specialist, Very Fine.
