2913   imageUruguay, 1857, 180c Diligencia essay. Large Sun design in green, some o.g., slightly in at top, Very Fine and rare. Estimate  $200 - 300. This value, along with a 240c denomination was prepared for use on mail to be carried between Uruguay and Argentina. However, they were never issued due to the fact that the inscription read "Diligencia" (Stagecoach), and service was to be by boat. The central portion of the design was saved and used for the issue of 1858. (Image1)
