A
REMARKABLE NEVER HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1961 24¢ WASHINGTON ISSUE - WITH APPROXIMATELY A DOZEN EXAMPLES KNOWN IN NEVER HINGED CONDITION.
Although the 24¢ denomination was introduced in 1857, it was not put into use until July
1860. The issue was demonetized only thirteen months later. Toppan Carpenter's typically erratic perforating continued with the 24¢ issue, coupled with the short period of use, are the primary reasons why never hinged examples of the 24¢
1860 are so difficult to find.Complete images including certificate(s): View gallery or Download PDF (598KB). (Image1)
