An outstanding high value franking on 1874 registered cover to New York, franked with 5sh Rose strip of 3 + two 4d Orange + 1sh Green + 2sh Blue all tied by numeral "466" barred oval with red Registered Liverpool double circle postmark below, backstamped red Registered New York double circle with ornate sealing wax which secures pink ribbon, some minor soiling & right 5sh with some light corner creases, Very Fine, a spectacular item. 10,000 sheets were printed in July of 1875, but officials decided that the color was very close to that of the then-current 2½d rosy mauve. Consequently, the entire printing was withdrawn and replaced with the 8d orange. Only four panes of 60 survived. (Image1)
